GREEK MARKET

Greece is the EU's most smoking-intensive country, as revealed by a survey conducted by the European Commission for World No Tobacco Day. The report indicates that 37% of Greeks smoke, and Greece also has the lowest percentage, at 44%, of individuals who claim they have never smoked.

The survey highlighted the varying smoking rates across EU countries, with an average rate of 26%. Following Greece, France and Bulgaria are joint runners-up with a smoking rate of 36%, and Croatia is close behind at 35%.

Sweden boasts the lowest smoking rate at a mere 7%. The survey also uncovered that the smoking rate among EU youth aged 15 to 24 has increased from 25% in 2014 to 29% in the current year.

Regarding anti-smoking initiatives, 63% of participants in the study support extending the ban on electronic cigarettes to all areas where traditional smoking is already prohibited.
